Veganuary: A Guide for our Vegan (and Vegetarian) Options

Published on February 15, 2022

For many of us, the start of a new year marks the perfect time to challenge ourselves or try something new.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world participate in Veganuary, a campaign that encourages people to go vegan for January (and beyond).

If you’re one of the many participants or are curious about incorporating more plant-based eating into your lifestyle, here are the options that we have available for you at Quesada.

Get your veggies

The more colour, the better! We offer a variety of fresh veggies, as well as roasted.

To allow the natural flavours to really shine through, we simply season our roasted veggies with a bit of oil, salt and pepper. The mix of onions, red and green peppers are roasted to retain their crispy, oh-so-satisfying crunch.

Get your protein

We take the time to make our beans from dry – this allows us to achieve the perfect texture and retain their natural flavours. Beans give us that satiating feeling and offer us plenty of benefits such as high fiber content and minerals, but are low in calories and fat.

Traditionally, refried beans are made with lard, but we utilize the natural creamy texture of cooked pinto beans to make ours without the addition of animal products, or any fat or oil. Our black beans are also vegan, making them another great protein option!

If you’re looking for a meat-like texture, we also have Beyond Meat. We prepare it with a house-made recipe that combines a blend of Mexican flavours with the spicy heat of Habanero pepper to provide you with the full Quesada experience.

Pump up the flavour

Going vegan doesn’t mean going bland. All of our salsas are tasty vegan options to cater to your spice preferences. For added creaminess, we have a delicious mayo-style vegan sauce that is both smokey and flavourful with a mild heat.
